Sarah Pierce had nine assists and eight kills to lead the third-seeded Houston Lady Tigers past Thayer 25-17, 25-14 Monday night in the Class 2 District 3 volleyball tournament.

Haylee Kell had 12 assists for the Lady Tigers, who face second-seeded Cabool at 6:30 p.m. today at Liberty High School The championship match begins at 8 p.m.

Lainey Casper and Amber Honig had four kills each for Houston. Honig added three aces.

“I think it was good to go down and get a feel for the gym and the atmosphere the night before we have the semifinals and finals. We normally have a bye on the first night,” Houston coach Debbie James said. “We passed very well and hit more aggressively.”

Cabool defeated Houston 13-25, 25-21, 25-23 on Oct. 13.
