A Licking woman – who swerved to avoid a trash truck Thursday morning – ran off Highway N west of her hometown and struck two parked vehicles, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Sgt. Dewayne Gale of the patrol said Gloria M Purdom, 60, was southbound when she tried to avoid a northbound sanitation truck that was entering the roadway. Her 2005 Toyota Prius struck a parked vehicle – which then hit a second parked one. They were owned by Michael W. Lane of Licking.

Purdom was taken to a Fort Leonard Wood hospital with moderate injuries. She was wearing a seat belt, Gale said.
