Nathaniel Alkire scored 14 points and Devin Coulter added 10 as the Houston eighth grade boys defeated Ava 36-29 Tuesday night.

It was the second consecutive road victory for the Tigers (3-4), who beat Willow Springs 43-37 the previous night.

Aaron Cantrell added seven points for Houston, which led Ava 15-6 after the first quarter.

Against Willow Springs, Alkire poured in 24 points as the Tigers rallied by outscoring the Bears 13-4 in th final quarter.

Coulter scored 11 points, and Cantrell had seven for Houston.

SEVENTH GRADE: Devin Garrett scored 12 points as the Tigers improved to 3-1 with a 29-24 road victory Tuesday at Ava.

Tanner Cantrell added seven points for Houston, which trailed 22-21 entering the final quarter before outscoring Ava 8-2.

On Monday, the Tigers raced ahead 18-3 at the half and held on to beat Willow Springs 30-26.

Garrett led Houston with 10 points. Kolby Walker added seven.
