The Texas Country Library last week authorized seeking preliminary engineering work for improvement projects at Summersville and Cabool branches.
The board is seeking a Community Development Block Grant to allow it to acquire a building and do renovations to relocate the Summersville branch. Members learned last week that funding may also be available under a Rural Development program aimed at libraries that would allow for an expansion of the Cabool location.
Members are reviewing the situation and working with the government agency.
The board has worked over the last several years – in partnership with its foundation – to improve facilities. A building was purchased and renovated for a new home of the Licking branch a few years ago. It also would like to construct a new library in Houston and continues to work on that project.
