Taylor Franklin scored a game-high 17 points as the Houston eighth grade girls cruised past Mountain Grove II 43-25 Monday in the opening round of the Mountain Grove Tournament.

Alissa Bowlin and Ty Bisker added eight points apiece for the Lady Tigers, who led 13-3 after the opening quarter and by 20 entering the fourth.

“We didn’t play well, but a win in a tournament is a win,” Houston coach John Jordan said. “We played hard and have all year. My concern is our inability to guard out-of-bounds plays. They scored over half their points in that area.”

SEVENTH BOYS: Kolby Walker scored 15 points to lead the Tigers’ 50-15 romp Monday of Cabool in the opening round of the Cabool Tournament.

The Tigers outscored Cabool 18-0 in the first quarter and 16-0 in the third.
