Jesse Grant Armfield, 84, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at Mountain View Health Care Center.

He was born March 16, 1925, in Eunice, son of Jonathan and Nancy Dodson Armfield. He and Mary Maxine Davis were married May 31, 1943.

He was WWII veteran and served in the Army from 1943-’45.

He was a member of the Summersville First Baptist Church. He was the town barber, served on the school board for years, volunteer fireman, hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maxine; two brothers, Oscar Armfield and Don Armfield; and two sisters, Mabel Ellis and Blanche Thompson.

Survivors include three children, Gary Armfield of Belleville, Ill., Mary Macy of Livingston, Texas, and Lana Kaut of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ellen Laidley of Illinois; and a brother, Dwayne Armfield of Missouri.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Summersville City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Summersville Senior Citizens Center or the charity of your choice.
