Charles Edwin Adams, 88, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 16, 1921, son of C.H. Adams and Ora Mae Roberts Adams.
He attended schools in Texas and Oklahoma. He entered the military in 1942 and spent 11 years taking part in several invasions, including reclaiming the beaches of Normandy. God spared his life several times while serving his country. He was awarded the Cold War Service Medal Certificate for service during the cold war period from Sept. 2, 1945, to Dec. 26, 1991.
He worked a short time for an aircraft company in San Diego, Calif., where he met his wife, Dara. He was in real estate and property management in California for many years. Charles and his wife retired to a farm in Missouri.
He was a member of the Ozark Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by parents; his wife of 35 years, Dara; a sister, Ella Mae; and grandparents, aunts, uncles and other relatives.
Survivors include six siblings, Ray Adams, Gene Fogle, Joan Powell, Mary Housner, Ramona Adams and Dale Adams; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Junior and Cornelia Ferguson and Nancy and Don Foster.
Services were Saturday, Feb. 27, at Ozark Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed Hamilton officiating. Burial was in Ozark Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
