Filings closed Tuesday for those seeking positions for a variety of county, state and federal positions.
The only filing during the week was when Pam McKinney of Houston completed candidacy paper seeking the Democratic nomination for recorder of deeds. She will face incumbent Phyllis Staley of Houston in the August Primary. The winner opposes Susan Warkentin, a Houston Republican.
Here is the slate of candidates:
Associate circuit judge: Doug Gaston and Brad Eidson, Republicans, Houston. No Democrat filed.
Circuit Judge Mary Sheffield, a Rolla Democrat, will seek re-election unopposed.
Presiding commissioner: Andy Sodano, Republican, Houston, and Fred Stenger, Republican, Houston; and David M. “Mike” Impey, Democrat, Houston. Incumbent Don Shelhammer, a Republican, is not seeking re-election.
Circuit clerk: Rita A. Williams, Democrat, Houston; and Marci Mosley, Republican, Houston.
Prosecuting attorney: Mike Anderson, Republican, Cabool.
County clerk: Don Troutman, Democrat, Houston.
Reps. Don Wells and Tony Dugger, who represent Texas County in the Missouri House, will run unopposed, Both are Republicans.
In the 8th Congressional District race, filing are Tommy Sowers of Rolla, a Democrat; incumbent Jo Ann Emerson, a Cape Girardeau Republican, and Bob Parker, a Raymondville Republican; and Rick Vandeven, Libertarian, Chaffee.
Filings also closed for township committeemen and committeewomen from each of the county’s organized political parties.
