A Houston native was named the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce’s new executive director.
Sharon Horbyk was selected Thursday night as the organization’s new director. Horbyk was among five candidates interviewed by the board in March.
Horbyk’s duties begin April 12.
“We are excited about the enthusiasm, energy and new ideas Mrs. Horbyk brings to our organization, ” said President K. Scott Roberts. “Though a long process, we feel we have made the right choice to lead and guide our chamber through 2010 and beyond.”
Roberts said the board wanted to publicly thank Pam Kell, the chamber’s administrative assistant, for her efforts during the period without a director.
“Pam has gone above and beyond the call of duty in her role and has kept our chamber running smoothly during this interim time,” Roberts said.
