The Book Shop will reopen from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, March 26, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, at 111 Grand Ave., Houston. This will be the regular schedule.
Volunteers are welcome to help sort and shelve new books donated during the winter months. The Book Shop has new children’s books in every age group; westerns, gardening, wood work and crafts and paperback novels by the latest authors.
It has been seven years since The Book Shop opened its doors at this location and it has been rewarding to see how the community has welcomed the opportunity to explore the world opened up by books. With more volunteers, it could be opened more than two days a week. Anyone who can share a few hours a week to help greet patrons and find selections will help the Texas County Library by doing so. All proceeds from sales help meet its expenses.
