Three members of the Houston Lady Tigers softball team were named to the all-state academic team that was released last week.

Hannah Pounds was a first-team selection, and Shelbi Moore and Lyndsey Tarrants were named to the second team. All three are seniors.

As a team, coach Willy Walker said the Lady Tigers had a cumulative 3.58 GPA.

Pounds, Moore and Tarrants also received all-conference recognition on the field.

“This is a tremendous honor. It takes a great deal of pride to accomplish this,” Walker said. “I am glad the state has a program in place to recognize the student-athlete that not only works hard on the field but in the classroom as well.”
