William “Bill” B. Mann, 73, of Cabool, died Friday, April 9, 2010, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 5, 1936, on a farm outside of Noel, son of Robert and Verina Mann. He and Mirita Ardena were married in 1957 in Ologape, Zambales. She died in January 2000. He and Alice Reed Ice were married Oct. 31, 2001, at the Church of Christ in Houston.
He attended Southwest City High School. At age 18, he joined the Navy and became an aircraft mechanic/flight engineer.
He and his family settled in Tucson, Ariz., where he retired in 1978 after 24 years in the Navy. He was a supervisor at Santa Rosa Nursing Home in Tucson for 14 years before operating his own handy man business.
He was baptized July 21, 1991, in Phoenix, Ariz., and was an active member of the Church of Christ (TL).
In 2001, he moved to Cabool and married his teenage sweetheart, Alice. They lived on a family farm outside of Cabool. He raised calves on the farm while his health allowed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; an infant sister; his first wife, Merita; and a son, Robert.
Survivors include his wife, Alice of the home; a son, Russell of Chandler, Ariz.; a brother, Ralph of Cabool; a sister, Nellie of Olathe, Kan.; five stepsons, Edwin Ardena, Bobbie Ardena, Jonnie Ardena of Seattle, Wash., Everett Ice of Cameron and John Ice of Steilacoom, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Tessie Reyes of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; 14 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were Wednesday, April 14, at Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home Chapel with Elders Andy Brown and David Keeney officiating. Burial with full military honors was in Cabool Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Cabool Cemetery, Children’s Miracle Network or St. Jude’s Hospital in care of the funeral home.
