Sales taxes earmarked for Texas County government fell nearly 11 percent during the latest monthly distribution, according to the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Revenue from three half-cent sales tax totaled about $70,500 each, which is down about $8,600 each.

For the first quarter of the year, about $225,000 has been collected from each of the taxes. That’s down about 2 percent or about $5,000 compared to the same period a year ago.

Each of the sales taxes are used for a different function – ranging from debt repayment on the county justice center to operation of government.
