Edna Jarvis

Edna Mae Cole Miller Jarvis, 94, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour.

She was born Oct. 12, 1915, in Houston, daughter of Adam Estrell and Delilah Carolyn Haney Cole. She and William Henry Miller were married May 16, 1936. He died July 8, 1969. She later married William Farrel Jarvis on Feb. 20, 1971. He died June 10, 1993.

She grew up in Houston and moved to Iowa, where she married Bill Miller. After two children were born, they moved back to a farm near Houston. In 1947, she moved to Seymour, where her family owned and operated Miller’s Café for 17 years.

She moved back to Houston following her husband’s death. She married Farrel and moved back to Seymour.

She made a profession of faith in God and followed the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, John, Jim, Everett and Cecil Cole; and two sisters, Myrtle Dawson and Mamie Miller.

Survivors include two children, Beverly Peters and Jerry Miller of Seymour; a stepson, John Jarvis of Reeds Spring; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Jewell Farmer of Cody, Wyo., and Blanche Ross of Houston; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Services were Friday, April 2, at Holman-Howe Funeral Home Chapel in Seymour with the Rev. Gordon Heckendorn officiating. Burial was in Seymour Masonic Cemetery.
