Houston police investigated several recent accidents.
Officers:
-Cited Lainey M. Casper 17, of 15280 Highway RA, with following too closely following an April 23 accident near U.S. 63 and Highway 17. Casper’s vehicle struck a vehicle driven by Patricia M. Wiest, 32, of Cabool. Police said the Wiest vehicle had slowed due to congestion.
-Were called to the Houston Wal-Mart parking lot April 24 when a truck driven by Andrew W. Turpin, 73, of Summersville, struck a concrete sign post. The vehicle was later lifted off the post. Turpin told police rain may have obstructed his vision.
-Were called April 21 to the Houston High School parking lot after a vehicle driven by Melissa D. Lindsley, 17, of 1223 E. Crest Dr, backed from a parking spot and struck a car operated by Margie A. Rust, 84, of 216 King St.
-Were called to Highway F and U.S. 63 on April 15 following a three-vehicle crash. Vehicles driven by Stephen C. Scott, 68, of Wright City, Debra S. Dzurick, 51, of Raymondville, and Ty A. J. Huff, 17, of 719 N. Second, were involved. Police said Huff’s vehicle turned north onto U.S. 63 from Highway F and into the path of the Scott Jeep. Dzurick’s vehicle was later struck.
Also this past week, police:
-Charged Macie D. Hayes, 18, of Cabool, with stealing under $500 following a shoplifting incident May 17 at Houston Wal-Mart Supercenter. Taken were a set of sheets and a valance worth $55.
-Heard from Brandon Lee, 25, of 318 Skyview Terrace, who reported April 18 that someone has siphoned $15 in gasoline from his vehicle and took items from a toolbox, including sockets, a ratchet and crowbars. The total loss was estimated at $110.
-Cited Robin L. Hayes, 45, of 8851 Hayes Drive, with driving while revoked on April 22.
-Were called April 24 to Wolford Monument, where several tombstones were knocked over and damaged. There is no suspect.
