Wayne Rust, 90, of Cabool, died Monday, April 12, 2010, at Kabul Nursing Home.

He was born July 28, 1919, in Solo, son of Robert and Stella Sigman Rust. He and Mildred Irene Erwin were married June 24, 1939. 

He was a lifelong resident of the Cabool and Houston areas. He was a truck driver most of his life. He spent two years with the Cabool Police Department in the 1950s.

He loved hunting, fishing and camping, especially with others. He and his wife enjoyed gardening, camping and attending family gatherings after retiring in 1982.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mildred; a daughter, Wayneth Bay of Cabool; and two brothers, Ray Rust of Cabool and Bobby Rust of Springfield.

Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Jarrett and Carolyn Hanks of Cabool; two sons, Michael Rust of Fontana, Kan., and Robert Rust of Ashland; a sister, Madge Elmore of Houston; a brother, Glen Rust of Ash Grove; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Marie Mitchem of Cabool.

Services were Thursday, April 15, at Maness Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Brown officiating.  Burial was next to his wife in Ozark Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home.
