The Houston girls’ 4×200 relay team won the district championship Saturday at Fair Grove.

The team of Danielle Pounds, Kaitlyn Kell, Taylor Korte and Bethany Korte also finished second in the 4×100 relay.

Kell closed a 30-meter gap on the final lap to place fourth in the 400 meters. Officials reviewed the tape 10 minutes to confirm Kell’s fourth-place finish.

Bethany Korte placed fourth in the long jump and 100-meter dash.

For the boys, Kyle Jones was runner-up in the high jump, third in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump.

Kayla Herndon finished fifth in the 1600 and made the finals in the 100 hurdles. Taylor Korte made the finals in the 200.

The top four finishers in each race or event advanced to Saturday’s sectionals.
