Houston police investigated two causes of assault, including one at a county meeting.

Officers:

-Cited Dakota J. Bland, 19, of 216 Bryan Street, with possession of alcohol by a minor and third-degree assault May 15 at the Lone Star Plaza. The incident occurred when two males asked to swap cigarettes for vodka. Several persons were assaulted, according to a police report.

-Charged Rueben O. Roedeske, 63, of Elk Creek, with an assault of a

58-year-old man at the Texas County Health Department. According to a report, Roedeske “grabbed (the victim’s) head with his left hand and struck him with his right hand.” The incident occurred before a meeting of the Local Emergency Planning Committee on May 11. The incident, according to a statement, may have been precipitated by a May 6 meeting where an inquiry was made about a memorial brick for firefighter.

In other matters, police:

-Arrested Bradley W. Gilmore, 18, of 8198 Morton Lane, Lot #4, on a Dent County warrant for property damage. He was unable to post $1,250 bond on May 17.

-Investigated vandalism to a mailbox belonging to Bob Simpson, 912 Highway 17, on May 13.

-Charged Carl A. Martin, 22, of West Plains, with receiving stolen property. The citation stems from the theft of items belonging to Barton’s Backhoe Service. Several items that could be sold for their metal value were taken.

-Investigated an accident May 13 that occurred when a vehicle driven by Shelia M. Alston, 16055 Forrest Drive, backed into another parked vehicle belonging to Pamela Hale of Licking.

-Are investigating the theft of a necklace and amplifier taken from Rex Franklin, 777 W. Highway 17, #17. The articles were found at a local pawn shop. The investigation is continuing, and there is a suspect.
