The Houston Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its “Springfest” this Saturday at its fairgrounds on North U.S. 63.
A variety of activities are planned.
Texas County Memorial Hospital will host a community health fair from 8 a.m. until noon at the community building.
A barbecue competition is planned all day.
The Animal Shelter of Texas County will host its Weiner Dog 500 beginning at 1:30 p.m.
The Colgate Country Showdown, a preliminary singing competition, begins at 4 p.m. Call 417-926-4650 to participate.
A demolition derby begins at 7 p.m. Admission is kids, $5; adults, $10; and pit pass, $15. There is a more than a $2,000 purse.
Persons will be eligible to register for a free night’s stay at Almoos’t Heaven Bed and Breakfast at the chamber booth.
