Energy savings

Intercounty Electric Cooperative has added another important part to its rebate program to help members reduce their electric bills, it announced this week.

The cooperative will pay half the cost of a home energy audit, a $250 service, through a partnership with Cornerstone Energy Solutions, as well as providing additional rebates for energy savings work on homes.

An energy audit is a comprehensive look at how the heating and cooling systems, insulation and air leakage of a home are affecting utility bills, comfort and safety. The results of an energy audit can provide homeowners with measures to reduce expenses. Intercounty will also offer a rebate of $500 for $1,000 of energy updates based on Cornerstone’s recommendations, as well as additional rebates for work performed to homes including insulation, window and heating and cooling upgrades. Cornerstone can help members file for a $1,500 federal tax credit and a $2,000 state tax deduction for energy work.

Cornerstone Energy Solutions is a residential and commercial energy efficiency provider, running certification training programs at area community colleges for contractors across Missouri. Cornerstone was awarded the rising star award for business innovation by the Missouri Small Business Technology Development Center.

Intercounty Electric members may contact Cornerstone Energy Solutions to set-up an audit by calling 573-341-2354 or visiting 1007 B Hauck Drive in Rolla from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
