A blood drive schedule was announced for Saturday, Sept. 15 in Houston.

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks invites donors to acknowledge and commemorate the sacrifices of armed forces veterans by participating in the 15th annual “Salute a Veteran” blood drive.

Drives will be June 14 through July 4 at all CBCO blood drives and donor centers in the region. The first in Houston will be 1-6 p.m. Friday, June 18, at First Christian Church.

Participants will receive a patriotic event T-shirt. But this year there’s a twist. Recipients will have the opportunity to decline the T-shirt, and CBCO will make a cash contribution to an area food bank.

Participants will also have the opportunity to write a note of thanks or a greeting to a veteran. Donors need to bring the address of the person to which the card will be sent. CBCO will pay for postage and the distribution of that card.

Eligibility requirements include weighing at least 110 pounds, being in general good health and providing a present ID.
