Guy Stephen Miller Jr., 85, died Thursday, May 27, 2010, at his home in Cabool.
He was born Jan. 27, 1925, in Helena, son of Guy S. Sr. and Bessie Humphrey Miller. He and Ina J. Smith were married July 11, 1946.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Savannah.
He was raised as a young child by his aunt, Nellie, after the death of his mother. He was a veteran of WWII and fought in the South Pacific. He joined the Navy and was transferred to the Marines. He served as a medical corpsman the rest of the war.
After the war, he farmed in the Flag Springs and Forest City areas. He moved to Oregon and worked in the lumber industry before moving back to Missouri with his family. He worked at Farmland Industries until he retired in 1986. He and his wife, Ina, then moved to the Houston area.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold Miller; a sister, Viola Rowe; and a daughter, Ruth Ann Leggett.
Survivors include his wife, Ina of the home; three sons, Steven Miller of Stevenson, Wash., James Miller of Cabool and Paul Miller of Licking; a daughter, Robin Calvin of Bucyrus; four grandsons; seven granddaughters; seven great-grandsons; 15 great-granddaughters; one great-great grandson; and eight step great-grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday, June 1, at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial with full military honors was in Oak Dale Cemetery.
