Leon Bailey

Roy “Leon” Bailey, 68, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010, in Licking.

He was born Aug. 23, 1941, son of Othel Roy Bailie and Alta Mae Taylor Smith. He and Carole J. Beasley were married Nov. 17, 1962.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of First Baptist Church of Licking. After marriage, he moved to the St. Louis area. He worked 30 years for Genex, delivering specialty gases. He retired in 1995 and moved back to Licking.

He loved hunting, fishing, music and being with friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepfather, Bob Smith; and two brothers, Bobby and Larry Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Carole; a stepmother, Thelma Bailie; two children, Tonya Smith of Licking and Kerry Bailey of St. Peters; four grandchildren; four sisters, Opal Beasley of St. Peters and Bobbie Krewson, Sandy Floyd and Shirley Umfleet of Licking; two brothers, Dennis Bailie of Mountain View, Ark., and Larry VanDuesen of Licking; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were Sunday, May 30, in Boone Creek Cemetery with Pastor Phillip McGuire officiating. Services were under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
