Sales tax revenues for Texas County and the City of Houston were down slightly from the same monthly period a year ago, according to a report by the Missouri Department of Revenue.
Three half-cent sales taxes collected by merchants in the county generated about $92,700 each. That’s down about 1 percent from the same period a year ago. For the year, about $390,000 has been collected. That’s an increase of about $2,600 from a year ago.
Houston collects four sales taxes. A one-cent sales tax generated $61,381, which was down about $2,269 from the same period a year ago. For the year, $267,696 has been collected. That’s down about $6,208.
Revenue from two, quarter-cent sales is used for street and sidewalk improvements, as well as utility work. Each totaled about $15,104. That’s down about $291 from the same period a year ago.
An eighth-cent sales tax for debt repayment on a fire truck totaled $7,552.
