Students on vacation from schools in Texas County can participate in summer reading programs at four locations.
The Texas County Library program, aimed at children ages 2 to 16, began last week and continues through July 24.
Each Wednesday, there is a craft program at three locations. Times are: Licking, 11 a.m.; Houston, 2 p.m.; and Cabool, 3 p.m. At 1 p.m. Mondays, the activity comes to the Summersville branch.
At 10:30 a.m. each Wednesday, someone will be at the library in Houston to read to children. Early literacy computers also are available.
Attending craft hour and reading 36 books during the four-week period opens children up to a contest. On July 24, there will be a picnic and prizes drawn, including cash and MP3 players, for those completing the program.
About 200 new children’s and junior’s books have been recently added to library’s inventory.
