Edna Mae Johnson, 78, died Thursday, July 1, at Brooke Haven Nursing Home in West Plains.

She was born Aug. 27, 1931, in Annapolis, daughter of Christopher Columbus Leach and Maggie Ruth Boone. She and William Murl Johnson were married Nov. 3, 1948, in Piggot, Ark.

She worked many years for General Motors. She was a devoted Christian.

She enjoyed gardening and helping her husband on the farm. Due to health problems, she was confined to her home, where she enjoyed flowers and visits from her great-grandchildren.

She attended Hilltop Holiness in Willow Springs and after moving to West Plains, attended Calvary Church as long as her health permitted.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Linda Payne and Terry Johnson; two grandchildren; seven brothers, Bill, Bobby Howard, Glenn Eugene, Charles, Lee and two infants; and five sisters, Pearl, Mary, Alene, Helen and Mildred.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Murl Johnson of the home; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were Saturday, July 3, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Barnett officiating. Burial was in Boone Creek Cemetery.
