Herbert (Herb) Wayne Bray, 80, son of Hayden Bray and Mary Geren Wolfe, was born Oct. 15, 1929 in Turley, Mo. He passed away July 6, 2010, in Houston, Mo., with family by his side.
He attended Mill Creek and Liberty Elementary School. After his first two years at Plato High School, he attended his junior and senior years at Houston High School and graduated in 1948. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in January of 1952 and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
He married Margaret Vera Luck July 3, 1965, in Houston, Mo. They shared their lives together for the past 45 years.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized as a teenager.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, David Wolfe; an infant sister, Ubilene Smith; and sister, Dosia Emory.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret of the home, three daughters, Robin Fonda and husband, Austin, of Lebanon, Mo., Stacy Bray of the area and Dixie Bailey and husband, Wade, of Ozark, Mo.; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Fonda of Manchester, Mo., and Nathan Fonda of Lebanon, Mo.; two sisters, Lois Hancock of Valley Park, Mo., and Clara Lou Feitlin of Folson, Calif.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Herb was a well known businessman in the Houston area. He owned and operated Houston Auto Parts, where he became a dedicated businessman and friend to his many loyal customers. He retired in 1992.
He loved his family and spending time hunting, camping, fishing, playing Pinochle and playing with his dog, Berkley, Jr.
He will be missed by his family and friends.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday July 9, 2010, at Evans Funeral Home. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday July 10, 2010, at Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Kendall Ford and Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Ozark Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
