Ina Wade

Ina Agnes Massey Wade, 97, died Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Houston House.

She was born Feb. 20, 1913, in Huggins, daughter of Albert and Dora Key Massey. She and Luther Wade were married Dec. 24, 1931. He died Dec. 20, 1973.

She grew up in the Huggins community and attended the Number One School. She was born in a two-story log house that still remains on the farm where she lived until her death.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Number One Free Will Baptist Church. She attended as long as her health permitted.

She enjoyed gardening and canning fruits and vegetables. She loved quilting and was a member of the Number One Quilting Club for 13 years. She also enjoyed exchanging recipes, visiting with friends and helping others.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years, Luther; three brothers, Claude, Orville and Lyle; and two sisters, Erma and Vivian.

Survivors include a brother, Dearl of Houston; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were Thursday, July 15, at Number One Church with the Rev. Curtis Dowden and the Rev. Tom Ratterree officiating. Burial was in Number One Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
