Lori Leichliter competes at Saturday’s district meet. Parent and adult swimmers accounted for 103 of Houston’s 374 points. The team finished third.

The Houston swim team completed its 2010 season Saturday by finishing third in an eight-team district field at Seymour.

Samuel Hendrix, Amber Honig and Gail Hayes each earned high-point honors in their respective age categories.

“We were down in our numbers compared to previous years, but the kids swam hard and did a great job,” said coach Toni McKinney.

McKinney said she was pleased with the team’s adult swimmers. Of the 374 points earned at districts, parents and adults accounted for 103.

“I love that this is a family program. We had several parents swimming alongside the kids,” McKinney said. “With a 40-and-over age division, you see quite a lot of parents on our team and others swimming and helping earn points for the team.”
