Houston’s Rustin Miller overcame a scary qualifying crash to place second at the Modified Show Me Championship at West Plains.

Miller and his pit crew rebuilt his mangled car to make the qualifying feature race. He won from the fourth row.

The pole setter, Terry Phillips of Springfield, took an early lead and cruised through the first 21 laps. But before the halfway point, Miller closed the gap before he was held up in lap traffic.

Phillips eventually won and took the $5,000 purse. Miller finished second.
