Verda "Marie" Moore

Verda “Marie” Holloway Moore, 90, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, at Maries Manor in Vienna.

She was born March 22, 1920, in Lanton, daughter of Riley and Alpha Holloway. She and William “Bill” E. Moore Jr. were married April 11, 1943, in Camp McPherson, Kan.

While overseas with the military in Giessen, Germany, she and her husband adopted a son, William “Bill” E. Moore III. They made their home in Houston and raised a granddaughter, Christine Moore Renaud.

She owned a beauty salon for more than 30 years and was a member of the First Church of God in Houston.

After her health declined, she moved to Maries Manor in Vienna. Her son soon joined her. She enjoyed playing bingo, attending church services and socializing with fellow residents.

She loved her grandchildren and lived long enough to see her youngest grandchild, Rylan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband, Bill; and a sister, JoAnn.

Survivors include a son, Bill; a half-brother, Ted; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were Saturday, Aug. 14, at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Wilson officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
