The Lady Tigers softball team committed seven errors in a 14-4 six-inning loss Tuesday at Salem.
Salem led 6-4 through five innings before scoring eight times in the sixth.
The loss snapped Houston’s two-game winning streak. It was also the first conference loss for the Lady Tigers (3-4, 1-1 SCA).
Freshman Hailey Dodson had two of Houston’s five hits. Taylor Franklin, Kayla Kelley, Sadie Ashworth and Belle Knarr all singled.
Franklin led off the game with a single and scored on Kelley’s two-out hit.
After Salem scored three first-inning runs, the Lady Tigers responded with three runs in the second. Knarr and Dodson, the team’s No. 8 and 9 hitters, had consecutive singles during the rally that tied it 4-all.
Salem scored in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead for good and pushed across single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
JV SOFTBALL: Emily Harrison and Nicole Motzkus had two hits apiece in the JV Lady Tigers’ 12-4 loss Tuesday at Salem.
Whitney Enfield and Elizabeth Jenkins each had one hit.
