Norman Wilson

Norman Wayne Wilson, 77, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at St. Clare Hospital in Fenton.

He was born July 21, 1933, in Duke, son of the late Arthur and Esther Winters Wilson. He and Barbara Clark were married May 3, 1952.

He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball and reading western novels. His favorite author was Louis L’Amour. 

In the early 1970s, he started his own painting company to get his son, Gary, into a painting career. Another son, Larry, later joined the company. He belonged to the Painters Union Local 46 in Painters District Council #2, which he retired from after 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Barbara; his parents; a son, Gary Wayne; and a nephew.

Survivors include five children, Pat Higgins of Villa Ridge, Debbie Spitler and Anita Spitler of Big Piney, Larry Wilson of Union and Guy Clark of St. Clair; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dale Wilson of Rolla, Vern Wilson of Edgar Springs and Osby Wilson of Diamond; a sister, Betty Ingram of Warren, Mich.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were Saturday, Aug. 28, at Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Bud Wilson officiating.

Memorials may be made to Licking Christian Church.
