Houston second baseman Maddie Vandiver tags out a Plato baserunner Thursday.

Plato scored four times in the top of the ninth inning to beat the Lady Tigers 11-8 Monday for its first victory of the season.

The Lady Eagles had lost their first 10 games of the season, including an 8-2 defeat to Houston on Aug. 28.

Plato (1-10) scored the game’s first six runs and led 7-4 entering the bottom of the seventh. Houston scored three times and tied it when Carmen Floyd slide safely underneath the pitcher on a wild pitch.

Houston (6-6) had just one baserunner through four innings and didn’t have a hit until Maddie Vandiver singled home two runs with two outs in the fifth.

Courtney Mutzebaugh had a bases-loaded bunt single in the sixth to make it 7-4.

Belle Knarr had a bunt single to lead off the seventh and Kayla Kelley walked. Floyd followed with a hard grounder that was mishandled by the shortstop. Knarr scored and as Kelley advanced to third, the throw from the outfield sailed to the backstop. Kelley scored on the error and Floyd, who advanced all the way to third, scored on a wild pitch to tie it at 7-all.

Plato sent 10 batters to the plate during its four-run ninth, which included four singles, a walk and error.

Houston got singles from six different players. Floyd scored three runs.

Floyd gave up 13 hits and five earned runs in the complete-game loss. She struck out seven and walked four.

Houston committed five errors.
