Senior Cory Scheets and freshman Taylor Franklin were named the Houston High School athletes of the week.
Scheets is a starting offensive lineman and linebacker on the football team. Franklin starts at shortstop for the softball team.
The honors, which were established by new athletic director Brent Kell, recognize achievements on and off the field. Recipients are selected and voted on by the high school coaches.
