Sharon Cook

Sharon Kay Powell Cook, 53, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at her home in Hartshorn.

She was born June 9, 1957, in Summersville. She and Bernie Cook were married Oct. 20, 1978.

She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She was a member of Valley Center Baptist Church, where she served as secretary for many years. She also taught Bible School.

She worked at Angelica Factory for many years and was a cook in the school system. She loved reading her Bible and spending time with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Norman and Marie Powell, her father Shorty Cook, and a sister, Dorlinda Heiney.

Survivors include her husband Bernie, two children (Chad of Salem and Becky Brawley of Hartshorn), two grandchildren, three brothers (Larry Powell of Summersville and Mike Powell and Dewayne Powell of Huntsville), two sisters (Brenda Newby of Yukon and Janet Gross of Hartshorn), and many nieces and nephews.

Services were Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Valley Center Baptist Church with the Rev. Van Kirkwood officiating. Burial was in Valley Center Cemetery under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Texas County Memorial Hospital’s Hospice of Care.
