A Hartshorn woman parked at the Houston Post Office saw two people swipe her purse last week.

Police investigated the theft after a report from Audrey R. Wilson, 76, who observed two young males enter her maroon 1989 Chevrolet car while she was at the post office. Wilson was advised to cancel a bank debit card. It was among items swiped, according to a report.

In other matters, police:

-Assisted the children’s division of Texas County Social Services with a child abuse investigation. Charges of statutory sodomy are being sought from the county prosecutor against a 28-year-old Houston man. The alleged victim is a 9-year-old girl.

-Investigated a Sept. 6 accident that police said occurred when a motorcycle driven by Timothy M. Howard, 57, of Wright City, swerved to avoid a collision and struck the left side of a towed unit operated by Roger L. Martin, 49, of 16687 Amber Drive.

-Arrested David L. Lange, 24, of 8197 Fisher Drive, on a Texas County warrant charging him last week with passing a bad check

-Cited Patrick A. Dodson, 29, of Lebanon, with failing to drive on the right half of the roadway, operating a motor vehicle while driver’s license suspended and DWI. Police are also seeking additional charges from the county prosecutor’s office after they said they found drugs and paraphernalia on Sept. 8.

-Charged Megan L. Neal, 27, of 302 Mill St., with stealing under $500 on Sept. 11. Police said a Wii console was stolen and pawned. The loss was estimated at $300. The equipment was recovered by police.
