Four members of the Houston softball team were selected last week to the all-district team in Class 3 District 2.

Carmen Floyd, Kayla Kelley and Taylor Franklin received all-district honors. Maddie Vandiver was named honorable mention.

The Lady Tigers’ four selections tied for tops in the district. Third-seeded Houston was upset in the first round by No. 6 Willow Springs.

Floyd, a junior pitcher, earned all-district honors for the second consecutive season. She was 11-12 as the team’s pitching ace. She also batted .362 with two home runs and 15 RBIs. She also had seven doubles and scored 14 times.

“She was truly the backbone of our team,” Houston coach Willy Walker said.

Kelley, a first baseman, batted a team-high .397 in her first season with the Lady Tigers. She led Houston with 18 RBIs and shared the team lead with 22 runs.

Franklin was the lone freshman named to the all-district team. She batted .381 with 22 runs and a team-leading 22 stolen bases. Franklin, one of six freshman starters for the Lady Tigers, played shortstop.

Vandiver, a freshman second baseman, batted .317 at the top of the Houston lineup. She scored 12 runs, had 11 RBIs and stole nine bases.
