TIGER TIDBITS: Senior Corey Stallcup injured his knee in the first half of Friday’s game and will likely miss the remainder of the season. Coach David Williams said early indications were an ACL tear. An MRI was scheduled for Wednesday. Stallcup was replaced on the offensive line by Andrew Hunter. …Houston ran its “Tiger” formation — a version of the popular Wildcat — five times with Kyle Jones at quarterback and Drake Bell in motion from wide receiver. The first play from the formation resulted in a 53-yard touchdown run by Jones down the left sideline. It was the longest play from scrimmage this season. The next four plays were runs of 2, minus-4 and 0 yards and an interception.
HMS TIGERS: The seventh grade Tigers earned their first victory of the season last Thursday with a 12-0 victory against Ava. Tristan Cooper had two touchdown runs of 45 and 20 yards.
SCHEDULE CHANGE: The JV Tigers’ Oct. 18 game against Liberty has been canceled. Liberty does not have enough players to compete in the game.
MORE TIGERS: Kyle Jones led Houston in rushing and receiving against Lockwood. He had four carries for 51 yards and three receptions for 38 yards. …Jacob Kelley completed his first six pass attempts and eight of his first nine in his first game as quarterback. Five different receivers caught passes. …Kelley’s 82 yards passing were a single-game high for Houston this season.
ABOUT THAYER: The Bobcats are 4-2 following Friday’s 63-13 victory at Mountain Grove. Thayer’s victories are against Salem (20-14), Willow Springs (47-12), Cave City, Ark. (37-6) and Mountain Grove. The Bobcats were defeated by Liberty (46-6) and Ava (30-16). …Thayer is competing in the SCA in football for the first time since 1987. …The Bobcats were ranked ninth in Class 1 in the first two polls of the season before losing to Liberty.
