Following a high-speed vehicle pursuit Sunday, Aleksandr Kramarenko was arrested by Texas County Sheriff's Department authorities.

A high speed pursuit Sunday on Highway M ended in the arrest of a man from Jacksonville, Fla.

Aleksandr V. Kramarenko, 24, was arrested after he allegedly stole a yellow 1991 Geo Tracker belonging to Jamie Todd, 33, of 4221 Highway M.

Shortly after investigating officers arrived at Todd’s residence, they saw Kramarenko drive by in the stolen vehicle. They pursued with lights and sirens at speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour until Kramarenko lost control about a mile north of Highway YY. The Tracker, valued at $1,500, went off the right side of the roadway through a ditch and into a fence.

Kramarenko, a Russian who was found to be in the United States on a work visa that is expired, did not resist arrest and was taken to the Texas County Jail where he is being held on $500,000 bond. TCSD Lieutenant Melissa Dunn said the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would be contacted regarding possible deportation.

Leaders of New Life USA drug rehabilitation center said Kramarenko was not enrolled in their program.
