Jesse “Jack” Vernon Buckner died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 at the age of 89.
He was born May 3, 1921, in Kinderpost, son of William “Big Will” and Laura Jane (Ellis) Buckner. He and Dollie Mae McKee were married Feb. 6, 1943.
At a young age, he enjoyed working on the family farm, playing baseball and tinkering in his shop. He loved hunting, fishing, meeting others and sharing stories.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Hugh, Ralph, Ray and Henry; six sisters, Bessie, Evelyn, Tiny, Della, Maxine and Francis; a son, Vernon Buckner; and two daughters, Faye Cook and Linda Mae Buckner.
Survivors include his wife, Collie; four sons, Herbert Buckner, Gary Buckner, Wayne Buckner and Dean Buckner; two daughters, Mary Jane Sullins and Pat Sullins; a sister, Ilene; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were Monday, Oct. 25, at The Old Country Church at Craddock with Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in Craddock Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
