Mabel Kiser Tuttle Nord Cook, 87, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at Licking Park Manor.
She was born Nov. 19, 1922, in Success, daughter of Gale and Ethel Kiser. She and Val Tuttle were married in 1941 in California. He died in 1980. She later married Albert Nord of Licking. He died in 1981. She and Herbert Ray Cook were married in 1987.
She grew up in Success graduated from Houston High School in 1941.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age in the Union Freewill Baptist Church in Success. She later transferred her church membership to New Life Freewill Baptist Church in Licking.
She and her husband, Herb, enjoyed traveling and riding horses. She supported the Licking Saddle Club many years. She was a member of the Licking Bridgebuilders and VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary. She sponsored and held Junior Farmers of America Club at her home.
She had served as a board member at Licking Park Manor and was instrumental in helping establish the facility in the 1980s.
She was preceded in death by three children, Marsha Louise Tuttle in 1953, Nick in 1985 and Barbara in 1991; and two brothers, Melvin and Marshall Kiser.
Survivors include her husband, Herb of Licking; a daughter, Sandra Yarnall of Nashville, Tenn.; four sisters, June Fansler of Columbia, Shirley Ramsey of Licking and Nadine Ballard and Doris Wright of Houston; and many stepchildren, grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Services were Thursday, Oct. 14, at Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jim Hurt officiating. Burial was in Craddock Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Cancer Research, New Life Freewill Baptist Church or the Christmas fund at Licking Park Manor.
