Sales taxes collected by Texas County merchants slid about 2 percent during the latest reporting period, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.
Retailers collect three half-cent sales taxes that fund a big chunk of county government. Revenue from the trio totaled about $75,229 each. That was down about $1,540 on each.
For the first nine months of the year, revenue remains up by about $7,700 on each tax. The total for the year on each is about $706,000.
The reports are considered a good barometer of economic activity.
