The Houston High School basketball teams are seeking support for their annual Tiger Backboard Team Board.
Businesses and sponsors can place their names on a board inside Hiett Gymnasium for a minimum donation of $25. Higher donations will also be accepted. Names will be in 3 1/4 inch lettering and remain for one year on the board on the south wall of the gym.
The booster program annually assists the Houston boys’ and girls’ basketball teams with their equipment and other needs. Although the school district meets many of the supply needs, it can not fulfill all of them, according to girls’ coach Brent Kell. This year’s funds will be used to purchase a video dubbing machine, projector and screen for coaches and players to watch game films.
Those wishing to lend their support should send a check to Houston High School at 423 W. Pine. It should be addressed to the attention of the “Backboard Boosters.” Checks should be made to Houston Schools.
Those with questions may contact coaches Dustin Kirkman or Kell at 417-967-3024.
“The coaching staff and players appreciate the support we already receive from our community,” Kell said. “We also want you to know that through the high points and low points, this program strives daily for a standard that makes you — our fans — proud.”
