The City of Houston is poised to further expand a housing repair program.

The City of Houston is among entities in Missouri that will receive additional funds this year for housing improvements through the Missouri Housing Development Commission.

Houston will receive an additional $44,000 under the agency’s Home Repair Opportunity program, which will help repair, rehabilitate and make more accessible private housing in the community. Earlier, it received an equal amount.

Elaine Campbell, who coordinates the project, said she is preparing a 2011 application for $209,000 that would make repairs to 10 residences.

Persons interested in submitting an application for work to their property can contact Campbell at Houston City Hall. It is on a first-come, first-served basis. Requirements are: You must have lived in the home for at least three years and be below Texas County and Missouri income guidelines: one person, $25,650; two persons, $29,300; and three persons, $33,000.

Campbell’s telephone number is 417-967-2393. Contractors also can contact her at that number.
