Downtown Houston Inc. met last week to finalize several projects.

The organization is working to complete a schedule of local art and other items of interest for display at the Houston Visitors Center. Marian McKinney and Barbara White are the coordinators on the displays, and they have set up a schedule. The chamber, which has offices there, also is considering featuring a business.

On display currently are homemade Christmas ornaments. A grid system also was recently installed to allow frames to be hung professionally without affixing them to the wall.

Additional display shelving could be placed on the east wall near the windows as you enter the building, it was decided.

Members also reviewed proposed Grand Avenue signage, announced a community betterment gathering on Nov. 16 (See related story elsewhere) and expressed disappointment related to a Main Street grant application that was completed but not submitted after it appeared there was little support in city government.
