The Houston eighth grade girls defeated Liberty 23-16 Tuesday night for the team’s first victory of the season.

Kylee Elmore led the Lady Tigers with 11 points. Karissa Zalucky scored five.

With the game tied 10-all at the half, Houston outscored Liberty 10-4 in the third quarter to pull away.

“I told the kids, ‘Play hard and let’s see what happens,'” Lady Tigers coach John Jordan said. “They have, and we are playing better.”

SEVENTH GRADE: The Lady Tigers improved to 6-1 with a 22-16 win Tuesday against Liberty.

Autumn Walker had a team-high 10 points for Houston, which led 16-4 at the half. Makayla Cook and Sarah Kelley scored four points apiece.

“Kids have been fighting illness,” Jordan said. “It’s good to get back-to-back wins when your kids are not feeling well.
