Neldon Neal’s sentencing date was delayed Tuesday because the defendant remained in the Missouri Department of Corrections rather than in Waynesville, a Pulaski County Circuit Court official said this afternoon.

Neal, 64, was to have appeared for sentencing on the involuntary manslaughter of his wife, but wasn’t transported. The sentencing is now planned for next Thursday. Monday. Neal was convicted in September in Morgan County of the 2007 death of his wife, Judy Lewis.

Neal led area lawmen on a 62-day manhunt after the killing at the couple’s Roby trailer.

An appeals court earlier threw out Neal’s second-degree murder conviction on a technicality.

Neal is currently serving a 17-year sentence for possessing a firearm as a felon.
