A Dixon woman and her son – with ties to the Summersville area – died last week in a head-on collision, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
Diana S. Dawes, 43, and her son, Ivan L. Barton, 19, of Dixon, died when the 2000 Ford Taurus she was driving struck a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Thomas E. McGrath, 63, of Jefferson City.
The collision occurred one mile west of Dixon on Highway C. McGrath was attempting to pass a slower vehicle on a hill and moved into the eastbound lane and struck Dawes’ vehicle.
Both Dawes and Barton were pronounced dead at the scene. McGrath suffered moderate injuries and was flown to the University Medical Center in Columbia, the patrol said.
Neither Dawes or Barton were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
Services for both were Saturday at Bradford Funeral Home, Summersville.
