The Houston seventh grade girls’ basketball team advanced to the title game of the Mountain Grove Tournament last week. The Lady Tigers lost 17-9 to Willow Springs to finish second.

Autumn Walker led Houston with six points. Sarah Kelley had three.

“We obviously had difficulty scoring,” Lady Tigers coach John Jordan said. “I’m really proud of this group. They play extremely hard and are fun to watch.”

Houston beat Willow Springs 31-17 on Monday night.

EIGHTH GIRLS: Kylee Elmore scored 10 points in the Lady Tigers’ 34-29 loss Monday to Willow Springs. Nora Dixon and Karissa Zalucky had six points apiece.

“What a great effort,” Jordan said. “The kids played extremely hard. I saw a lot of positive things happen. We need to continue this intensity in practice and Thursday night.”

SEVENTH BOYS: D.J. McNew had a team-high 11 points in the Tigers’ 49-18 romp Tuesday night of Liberty. Skylur Malam added eight points.

EIGHTH BOYS: Kolby Walker had 10 points in the Tigers’ 52-27 loss Tuesday to Liberty.
